WILL BEDELL

Time has a way of slipping away from us, doesn’t it? I remember the first time I met Will Bedell was in August of 2013. He had arrived to be photographed as Mr. November in my Men of San Francisco 2014 calendar. Now, you can tell a lot from a photograph…but when I met Will in person…whoa! What a hunk. A man who knew his body, knew how to use it, knew how to pose it and knew how to flash a wicked, mischievous smirk. I was pleased. Sadly, Will wasn’t able to make it to the release party for the calendar, so I never really got a chance to share that moment with him and give him a “thanks” and a “see ya around.”

Some time later, I saw Will on Facebook…someplace he had not been previously. I added him as a friend and we got a chance to catch up a little. I mentioned to him that I would love a chance to work with him without having to move through so quickly, like we did when we were shooting the 15 models for the calendar. He was into the idea. So, we made a plan. At the time, Will was living in a great place on a cool property in Twin Peaks. He said the property had all kinds of good nooks and crannies for us to use. So we made a date, I packed my gear and headed up to his place in San Francisco.

It. Was. Awesome.

There was a clubhouse with a pool table room, a gym, a sauna…a photographer’s dream. Will gave me a tour of the grounds and we made a plan of attack. Once we started shooting, I was immediately reminded of a coulee of things. First, that Will really felt comfortable in front of the camera and knew how to work what his mama gave him. Secondly, he is not shy. Like, at all. I truly believe his willingness to push the boundaries is what gave us the edge on this shoot. We was up for anything…and down for it all. It was an amazing session…and an amazing time. Will is such a cool guy! If you get the chance to hang out with him I highly recommend it.

The day had come to an end and the photos were “in the can” so to speak. Well… shortly after the shoot…life kind of got wild for me…and I found myself having less and less time to focus on my photography. So the photos sat. And sat. And sat. For almost a year. I gave Will a heads-up a few times about what was going on…and he couldn’t have been more understanding and sweet about the whole thing. But…as much as time can slip away from us…sometimes it presents itself to us in an abundance. Earlier in the summer, I finally had a chance to sit down, make selections, edit and farm out the photos for publication. Low and behold the wonderful PlayBear Magazine had selected a few series within the collection to publish in their September/October 2017 issue, which is available as a free download. So the great news was…the photos were to be published…the bad news…Will had to wait even longer for the photos because I had to hold distribution until after publishing. And once again, Will was understanding and showed enthusiasm.

So the time has come. The issue has been published and I can now post the entire collection of images we made together. I am really, really excited about these photos finally being available for viewing. They’ve just been under wraps for far too long. Photos need to be viewed and enjoyed…especially when they are photos of a man as wonderful (and sexy) as Will Bedell.

Oh yeah, in the title I mention that Will is a Do-Gooder. This year alone, Will has lent his talents to several huge productions that are raising money for the LGBT community in San Francisco. I had the pleasure of seeing him in Broadway Bares San Francisco earlier in the summer and this month during Folsom weekend he will be in Baloney Does Folsom!

Finally…if you’d like to check out the photos of Will and the 14 other hot guys that posed for my 2014 calendar…click here. Ok, ok…enough…on with the collection at hand!!
